Suhaas Ahuja

Suhaas Ahuja basically grew up with theatre in his blood—his whole family was into it, so he’s been acting since he was a kid. Dude went off to Middlebury College in the US for film, but after that, he started out in Chennai, hosting on Southern Spice Music and somehow managed to land a lead in an Indian-English rom-com called Knock Knock, I’m Looking to Marry (way back in 2003). He made the big move to Mumbai in 2005, working as an assistant director for film and TV, but he never ditched theatre—ended up collaborating with The Company Theatre, which is kind of a big deal. Then he switched gears and did the whole full-time music composer thing for a while. In 2011, he scored a key role in Talaash as Sanjay Kejriwal. After that, his theatre career just exploded. He was part of Sunil Shanbag’s “Club Desire,” not just acting but also composing music for it. Got roped into “Gates to India Song,” an Indo-French play where he played this mysterious Vice-Consul opposite Nandita Das. Other highlights? “A Peasant of El Salvador” (still running after all these years!) and “Bull,” where he played Thomas, the guy who basically has the worst luck. Oh, and he sang his way into “The Threepenny Opera” in 2017, plus did Agatha Christie’s “The Mirror Crack’d” in 2020 with some seriously heavyweight actors. On screen, you might’ve caught him in Katti Batti, or as Salim ‘Chachu’ in P.O.W. Bandi Yuddh Ke. He picked up awards for the short film Marilyn Lights and starred in popular web series like Out of Love and A Married Woman. And he’s still making music—fronting The Suhaas Ahuja Band, even getting nods from A.R. Rahman. The guy just doesn’t stop.
