Ching-Shan Chang

Ching-Shan Chang, based out in LA, has been making some serious noise in the world of film and multimedia music. She kicked off her journey under the wing of Tom Holkenborg (you might know him as Junkie XL) back in 2019, and now she’s deep in the trenches with him, lending her skills as an additional composer on big studio flicks like Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Not just a one-trick pony, she’s got a whole resume of scoring short films—her collab with Guilherme Pedra on Elsewhere (A Flor Azul) turned out to be a real game changer, pulling in festival buzz, even at Cannes. Awards? Oh, she’s got a shelf full. Best Music trophies, plus recognition from international film scoring competitions—Berlin, Krakow, you name it. And get this: she smashed barriers as the first Asian woman to snag the Golden Eye at Zurich’s Film Music Competition, thanks to her work on Danny and the Wild Bunch. Way before her Hollywood days, Ching-Shan was hustling through workshops: NYU/ASCAP, SCL Mentor Program, you get the drift. She even worked a stint with Carter Burwell. Outside film, she’s been spinning tunes for trailers, commercials, and concert halls. She’s a regular with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, arranging everything from folk tunes to the national anthem. Her piece, Images of Kaohsiung – “Cangue of Freedom,” premiered by the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, got rave reviews. Basically, she’s not slowing down anytime soon, bouncing between movies and concert halls, always in demand.
