Randall Batinkoff’s career? Man, it’s all over the map, in a good way. This guy basically stumbled into acting as a kid—literally just hanging out with his mom in a toy store, and boom, some agent spots him. Next thing you know, he’s booking commercials left and right, like 50 gigs before he even graduated high school at Phillips Academy. Not too shabby. Then, smack in the middle of his freshman year at Brown, he lands a part in “For Keeps?” as Stan, which really kicked things off for him. He even managed to snag a degree in International Relations, just to keep things interesting. After college, Hollywood called him back. He pops up in “The Player” as Reg Goldman, rubbing elbows with Tim Robbins, and then he’s the conflicted football captain in “School Ties,” acting alongside heavy hitters like Matt Damon and Brendan Fraser. Don’t forget his turn as Buffy’s less-than-brilliant boyfriend in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Honestly, the guy’s got range. He’s worked with just about everyone: John Singleton in “Higher Learning,” Nicole Holofcener in “Walking and Talking,” George Clooney and Nicole Kidman in “The Peacemaker,” Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta in “Mad City,” and he even played Helen Hunt’s memorable date in “As Good as It Gets.” He took on edgier stuff too—like a killer in “Dead Man’s Curve” and a racist hitman in “Let the Devil Wear Black.” Critics loved his take on Hugh Hefner in “Hefner: Unauthorized.” More recently, he’s been in “Kick-Ass,” produced the video game for it, and even made his directorial debut with “37.” Honestly, Batinkoff’s just everywhere.
