Allon Reich

Allon Reich’s been in the game for ages, teaming up with Andrew Macdonald at DNA Films since way back in 2002. Together, they’ve churned out a wild mix—think The Last King of Scotland, The History Boys, Notes on a Scandal, and the totally bonkers 28 Weeks Later. Reich clearly doesn’t shy away from shaking up genres. One minute, he’s got you deep in dystopian sci-fi with Never Let Me Go, then boom, you’re in the thick of futuristic chaos with Dredd. Don’t even get me started on Ex Machina. That one, directed by Alex Garland, just swept awards and left everyone questioning reality. Reich isn’t just about the big screen, though. He’s got his hands in TV too. DNA Films kicked off a TV arm with Fox Networks Group around 2014, which, honestly, just shows he’s got his eye on every angle. Before DNA, Reich ran things at Miramax UK, producing heavy hitters like Shekhar Kapur’s Four Feathers and Stephen Frears’ Dirty Pretty Things—talk about range. Even earlier, he was at Film Four, working behind the scenes on absolute British classics—Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shallow Grave, The Madness of King George, Brassed Off, and the cult hit Trainspotting. Oh, and as if he wasn’t busy enough, he’s back with Alex Garland, cooking up an adaptation of Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation for Paramount. Basically, if there’s an interesting, risk-taking film lurking out there, chances are Reich’s fingerprints are all over it.
