Sindhu Vee’s kind of everywhere these days. She snagged the role of Mrs. Phelps in Netflix’s mega-popular take on Roald Dahl’s Matilda—the one with Emma Thompson hamming it up, Lashana Lynch absolutely owning it, and Stephen Graham being, well, Stephen Graham. The film blew up, critics loved it, and it somehow managed to dominate Netflix’s family charts in 88 countries. That’s not a typo, by the way. Eighty-eight. Wild. She’s not slowing down, either. Soon, she’ll turn up in Kristin Scott Thomas’ first flick as a director, My Mother’s Wedding, sharing scenes with Scarlett Johansson and Sienna Miller. Not exactly a shabby cast. On top of that, Sindhu’s about to co-lead The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh for Amazon Freevee—a straight-to-series sitcom, so no pilot nonsense, just straight to business. If you’re a British TV junkie, you’ve probably caught her in Starstruck, Sex Education, or Feel Good. She pops up everywhere, like glitter after a craft project. And stand-up? Don’t get me started. Sindhu’s done Live at the Apollo twice (hosted it most recently, no big deal), and she’s basically a regular on the panel show circuit: Mock the Week, QI, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You? She’s toured the UK, performed sets basically everywhere, and even landed an invite to Montreal’s Just For Laughs—kind of the holy grail, right?
