Diwakar Dhyani
Diwakar Dhyani’s story is basically the classic Delhi-to-Mumbai hustle, with a few unexpected twists thrown in. Born and raised in Delhi, but with roots going back to Sandli village in Uttarakhand, he’s got that mix of city smarts and mountain grit. He actually started out pretty far from the limelight—commerce grad from Delhi University, did his time in media ops at Maccen Erickson (yeah, the ad agency), just clocking in from 1997 to 1999. That could’ve been it, honestly, a regular desk job life. But nah, Diwakar had other plans.
Theatre called his name, and he jumped in with Asmita Art Group, grinding it out and getting his hands dirty onstage. It wasn’t just about memorizing lines, either—he really dove into the craft, soaking up whatever the drama directors from NSD could throw at him during his stint at Sahitya Kala Parishad’s repertory. The guy’s hungry, you can tell.
Then, 2004 rolls around and Mumbai starts calling. Like so many before him, he packs up and heads west. At first, it’s the usual—bit roles here and there in films and web series, just another face in the crowd. But he sticks with it, and finally, his break comes with Undekhi. Suddenly, people start noticing. He’s not just another background guy anymore; folks are actually talking about his performance.
And it’s only getting busier—he’s got Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar coming up for Hotstar and is sharing screen space with Vidyut Jamwal in IB 71. Not bad for a guy who started out crunching numbers.
