Kevin Matley

Kevin Matley’s got this thing where music just pours out of him—seriously, the guy can’t help it. He’s an American composer and a multi-instrumentalist who’s basically living every music nerd’s dream, jumping from massive blockbusters to thoughtful documentaries like it’s nothing. Most recently, he cooked up the score for Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, which crushed it at the box office as America’s top flick. Not too shabby. Then there’s The Family Plan on AppleTV+—yeah, that’s the one everyone and their grandma watched. His fingerprints are all over that, too. He’s also behind the music for Arthur the King (imagine Simu Liu and Mark Wahlberg running around with epic tunes blasting in the background), and the DiCaprio-produced, Critics Choice-nominated Path of the Panther, which hit Disney and Hulu. Oh, and if you caught Between the Rains at Tribeca in 2023, that haunting soundtrack? Yep, that’s Matley. He even teamed up with Adam McKay for HBO’s Daniel, because why not just add an Oscar-winning filmmaker to the list? Back a bit, Matley scored Concrete Cowboy with Idris Elba for Netflix, and critics actually noticed—The Hollywood Reporter and SF Chronicle’s Datebook both gave him props. Not bad for a kid who got hooked on film scores thanks to Disney cartoons, old school sci-fi, and Indiana Jones. Those childhood obsessions basically engineered him into the composer he is now, mixing nostalgia with a knack for storytelling you just can’t fake.
