Just 48 hours before the Spring 2025 Rabanne Paris Fashion Show, Creative Director Julien Dossena chats with Chloe and Chioma about The Run-Through.

Raban had plenty of memorable moments this month, from Ella Purnell’s gorgeous, glittery, disco-glam Emmys look to Chapel Roan’s dramatic armored gown (complete with sparkly hood) at the MTV Video Music Awards. The latter perfectly complemented Roan’s Best New Artist acceptance speech, in which she paid tribute to the gay community — particularly gay fans in the Midwest. “I see you and I understand you because I am one of you,” she urged from the stage.

Dossena told The Run-Through that the powerful statement reflects the character of the Rabanne brand, saying founder Paco Rabanne was inspired by his desire to dress women of the 1960s as warriors against the world. “He defined femininity then and it’s still relevant today,” Dossena said. He added that Ron’s presence offered a lesson in “how to fight for the right to go where you want to go.”

Dossena is credited with reviving the Rabanne brand, long associated with celebrities such as Françoise Hardy, Brigitte Bardot and the cult-famous Barbarella. He has been the creative director since 2013, tasked with bringing it into the 21st century while also paying homage to the space-age aesthetic that made Rabanne popular in the first place. This season maintains this precise balance, introducing the world’s most expensive purses, porcelain dresses and many other surprises. Now, as always, Dossena is thinking ahead.
