Mohammad Ghassan
Mohammad Ghassan, man, this guy just kind of exploded onto the film scene out of nowhere in 2019. You’d think he’d been around forever, but nope—his first big break was in Mohammad Diab’s “Amira” (2020). Not a bad place to start, honestly. The dude’s got that rare kind of screen presence that makes you do a double take, like, “Wait, who’s that?” And from there, he just kept picking up steam, working with some of the Middle East’s most interesting filmmakers. He was in Basel Ghandour’s “The Alleys,” which, if you know, you know—that movie’s gritty as hell and Ghassan just fits right in.
He also worked with Maysoun Khalid on “Chronicles of Her – Diana.” That one? Pretty heavy, and Ghassan brought this raw, almost uncomfortable honesty to the role. Not afraid to get a little messy, you know? Then there’s Ashley Pierce’s “Flight 422.” Bit of a curveball, more international vibes, and Ghassan handled it like he’d been jet-setting his whole life. But, and this is where it gets wild, his latest? “To A Land Unknown” with Mahdi Fleifel. People are already calling it his best work yet, and honestly, can’t argue. He’s magnetic, carrying the whole film on his shoulders. It’s one of those performances that sticks in your brain for days—maybe weeks—after the credits roll. Just saying, if you haven’t seen what Ghassan’s doing lately, you’re missing out.
