Priya Bhavani Shankar
Priya Bhavani Shankar, honestly, she's one of those faces you keep spotting all over South Indian cinema and TV, and for good reason. Got her roots in a pretty talented family, grew up in Chennai, did the whole SBOA school routine and then even went the tech route with a B.Tech from B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent. Yeah, and she’s got an MBA tucked under her belt too, which, let's be real, is not something you see every day with leading actresses.
She kicked off in the media as a news presenter at Puthiya Thalaimurai from 2011 to 2014. But sitting behind a news desk clearly wasn’t enough, because soon she was lighting up the small screen in Star Vijay’s “Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai.” People really started noticing her after “Meyaadha Maan” in 2017, where she starred opposite Vaibhav Reddy. That role even got her a SIIMA nod for Best Female Debut, which is no small potatoes.
Then there was “Kadaikutty Singam” with Karthi, landing her a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She’s picked some pretty fun projects since then—teamed up with S.J. Suryah in “Monster,” did “Mafia: Chapter 1,” and played around in the web series world with “Time Enna Boss.” She keeps popping up alongside big names: Jiiva, Arulnithi, Harish Kalyan, Sundeep Kishan.
2022 was bonkers for her—movies with Arun Vijay, Ashok Selvan, Atharvaa Murali, just stacking up those roles. And she’s not slowing down, with “Kalyanam Kamaneeyam” (her Telugu debut), “Bommai,” “Pathu Thala,” and “Rudhran” all lined up. Priya just keeps moving, and honestly, who can blame her?
