Leontine Petit
Leontine Petit isn’t just another name floating around the European film scene—she’s the brain behind Lemming Film, a production company that’s been cranking out movies and drama series since the mid-90s. Based in Amsterdam and Berlin, her team’s racked up over fifty films and a solid lineup of drama series, cashing in on both critical acclaim and a bunch of awards. Honestly, you can’t really talk about European co-productions without her name popping up somewhere in the conversation.
Before she jumped into the world of filmmaking, she tackled philosophy at the University of Amsterdam—so, yeah, she’s got the brains and the artsy cred. She’s done the rounds at EAVE, ACE, and even led Bridging the Dragon, a group all about connecting the European and Chinese film industries. Not to mention, she’s a regular on the teaching circuit, sharing her know-how with the next gen of media pros.
She’s a big fan of getting indie films out of their comfort zone and into international spotlights. That drive snagged her the Eurimages Co-production Award at the European Film Awards in 2016—pretty big deal. Her filmography’s nothing to sneeze at either: PLEASURE, DO NOT HESITATE, HOME, DEAD AND BEAUTIFUL, BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ, THE HEIRS OF THE NIGHT, MONOS, FENIX, ZAMA, MY GIRAFFE, THE LOBSTER… the list kind of goes on. Each one’s proof she doesn’t mess around—Leontine’s clearly in it for the long haul, and she’s still shaking things up in the industry.
