Storyline
In a not-so-distant future, emotions are basically outlawed, like catching feelings could land you in trouble. Gabrielle, caught up in the pressure, signs herself up for this sketchy DNA-purification thing—a machine that’s supposed to scrub out any trace of intense emotion by making her relive her past lives. It’s wild, right? While she’s deep in this trippy process, she runs into Louis, and something just clicks. It’s not your run-of-the-mill meet-cute—they feel like old souls bumping into each other again, even though it’s technically the first time. The story jumps all over the place: you get flashes of Paris in 1910, modern times in 2014, and the cold, sanitized world of 2044. There’s this constant tug-of-war between love and control, fate and science, making it way more than just a love story. The film blends melodrama with sci-fi—kind of a genre mash-up—asking if it’s possible to really erase what makes us human, or if love just keeps finding a way, no matter what century you’re stuck in.
