Storyline
Back in 1880s Wyoming, a 13-year-old kid gets thrown into the deep end way too soon. Both his parents die, leaving him in charge of his little brother with basically nothing but the wild, unforgiving land around them. It gets worse—he ends up accidentally killing a local rancher, and suddenly he’s not just a kid trying to survive, he’s a wanted man. The town isn’t exactly sympathetic, and they’re ready to hang him for it. Out of nowhere, his grandfather—who he barely even knows, let alone trusts—shows up. They bolt together, running from the law, from their own demons, and from the whole mess that’s swallowed them. As they stumble across the prairie, there’s no warm and fuzzy bonding; it’s rough, gritty, and sometimes ugly. The boy’s forced to grow up fast, while the old man’s got his own ghosts to wrestle. It’s raw survival, two generations thrown together by bad luck and worse choices, dodging justice and learning that family isn’t always what you expect.
