Oscar D. Gomez
Oscar D. Gomez, yeah, that’s a name you probably missed unless you’ve been digging around in indie horror from the early 2010s. He popped up in “Pelt” (2010) and “Lore: Deadly Obsession” (2011), both of which are the kind of films you stumble across late at night and end up way more invested than you meant to be. “Pelt” is basically a love letter to grindhouse—the setup’s classic: a group of friends heading out into the woods, looking for a little fun, but, obviously, everything goes sideways in the worst way. Blood, guts, the whole shebang. Gomez’s performance? Super gritty. He doesn’t shy away from the mess, really leans into the chaos, and you can’t help but root for him… even when you’re not sure you should.
Then there’s “Lore: Deadly Obsession.” That one’s got more of a psychological twist, way more unsettling. Obsession, possession, all those good horror staples, but with a kind of indie rawness that makes it feel way creepier than your average big-budget scare fest. Gomez brings this weird intensity to the screen—like, you’re never sure if he’s the hero or the villain, and honestly, that’s half the fun. He’s got this way of making you uncomfortable, but you can’t look away. If you’re into horror that’s a little rough around the edges, both these films are worth a watch, and Oscar D. Gomez is a big reason why.
