Frederick R. Ulrich

Frederick R. Ulrich—now there’s a name you probably haven’t heard thrown around at every Hollywood party, but honestly, the guy had quite a run. Born smack dab in Cincinnati back in ‘43, Fred (I’m just gonna call him Fred, he feels like a Fred) didn’t exactly have the most glamorous start. Still, he somehow muscled his way into the world of TV and film, which, let’s be real, is no small feat for a Midwest kid. He turned heads with “Bordertown” in 2007, the kind of thing that made you sit down and actually pay attention to what was happening on screen. Couple years later, he pops up again with “Surviving Evil” in 2009. That one? Yeah, it was gritty, dark, definitely not your feel-good Sunday flick. And then there’s “Love Ranch” in 2010—talk about a wild ride. Fred wasn’t just some faceless suit behind a desk either; he really had his hands in the creative mix. You get the sense he’d rather be on set than stuck in some boring boardroom meeting. Married to Kimila Williams—no idea how they met, probably a story worth hearing over drinks. Anyway, their partnership seemed solid, at least from the outside looking in. Sadly, his story wrapped up in Hidden Hills, California, in 2021. Not exactly the Hollywood ending people dream of, but hey, the guy left his fingerprints on more screens than most of us ever will. Sometimes the most interesting lives are the ones you barely hear about until they’re over. Fred’s one of those.
