Mason Thames is kinda tearing it up in Hollywood right now, and he’s not even old enough to vote. Most folks know him as Finney Blake—the smart, awkward kid who ends up locked in a basement with Ethan Hawke’s creepy masked killer in The Black Phone. That movie got people talking, and the sequel’s already on the way, hitting theaters in October 2025. Thames isn’t slowing down, though. He’s about to take on Hiccup in Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon, which, let’s be real, is a big deal for anyone who grew up loving that animated classic. Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders are helming the project, and it’s dropping in June 2025. But wait, there’s more. Thames is stepping into a Green Day-inspired comedy—yeah, you read that right—called New Years Rev. Lee Kirk’s directing, and the actual Green Day guys are producing, so you know it’s gonna have some edge. Shooting for that starts soon, and it’s not long after that he’ll be jumping into Regretting You, a Colleen Hoover adaptation loaded with a killer cast: Dave Franco, Scott Eastwood, Allison Williams, and McKenna Grace. That one’s landing in October 2025 too. Recently, Thames popped up on Netflix in Incoming, a comedy about freshmen and their first wild high school party, plus he shared the screen with Mel Gibson in Monster Summer—a coming-of-age adventure with lots of heart. Dude started out in ballet of all things, even touring internationally as a kid. Now, the big studios are lining up for him. Not bad for a teenager, right?
