Subodh Bhave
Subodh, born in Pune back in '75, has carved out a pretty wild path in the Indian entertainment world. These days, he’s living in Mumbai, but it all started way back at Symbiosis College, where he graduated before jumping into an IT sales job (of all things) at a tiny company called Inika Technologies. Honestly, not your classic “star is born” story, right? But somewhere along the line, he ditched the corporate life for the stage and screen, and, man, did that pay off.
He’s mostly a big name in Marathi cinema, but the guy’s popped up everywhere—Hindi and Malayalam films, television, theatre, you name it. People still rave about his work as Bal Gangadhar Tilak in Lokmanya-Ek Yug Purush (2015). And don’t forget Bal Gandharva (2011)—those roles basically stamped his passport to icon status. Across a career stretching well over ten years, he’s racked up around 50 film credits. Not too shabby.
2015 was a real turning point. Subodh tried his hand at directing with Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, a musical drama that turned into a monster hit—critics loved it, audiences packed theatres, and it even got some love at fancy film festivals like IFFI. That flick was one of the highest-grossing films of the year, which, let’s be real, doesn’t happen for everyone’s first time behind the camera.
His filmography’s all over the map: Hapus (2010) for laughs, Aiyyaa (2012) in Bollywood’s romcom zone, Malayalam crime-drama Pinneyum (2016), heartfelt stories like Hrudayantar (2017), Pushpak Vimaan (2018), and the thriller Savita Damodar Paranjpe (2018). Lately, he’s stepped into the producer’s chair too, kicking things off with Pushpak Vimaan. So yeah, Subodh’s not slowing down anytime soon.
