Storyline

Mouse is just your regular, quiet guy… or, at least, that’s what everyone thinks. In reality, he’s a stone-cold hitman, and when the cops finally nab him, he’s slapped with a wild offer: his freedom, if he’ll go deep undercover and bust up a major drug operation from the inside. He’s got to play both sides—making a fake deal with the ring, feeding info to the police, all while trying not to get his own head blown off. Things spiral out of control, obviously, because nothing ever goes as planned in these stories. Director Takashi Kitano isn’t messing around, either. He splits the whole thing into two parts: you get a hard-hitting yakuza action piece and, just when you think you’ve got the tone down, he flips it into a self-aware comedy riffing on the same plot. So, where does Mouse end up? That’s the million-dollar question—caught between chaos, betrayal, and a weird sense of humor that only Kitano could pull off.
