Adam Clayton

Adam Clayton, born to Brian and Jo Clayton, didn’t exactly have what you’d call a normal childhood. Two siblings: Sarah Jane and Sebastian (who, by the way, runs his website—talk about family support). When Adam was just a toddler, the family hopped over to Kenya, but that phase didn’t last long; by the age of five, they’d packed up and set course for Ireland. His dad flew planes for a living, the kind of job that sounds cool until you realize how much time he probably spent away from home. Funny twist—Adam’s mom and Edge’s mom were pals, which, considering how things played out, feels almost like fate nudging everyone together. School? Let’s just say Adam’s academic journey was…bumpy. They shipped him off to boarding school, but he didn’t exactly thrive there—got himself expelled, actually. No big tragedy, though, because that detour landed him in a nondenominational, progressive school in Dublin. That’s where he crossed paths with Paul Hewson (yeah, Bono himself). Sometimes you stumble into the right place at the right time, and for Adam, that was Dublin, surrounded by future legends. So, growing up, moving countries, a pilot dad, a tight family, and a bit of school trouble—nothing about Adam’s early days was boring, that’s for sure.
