Aleksandar Protic is kind of a wild card when you look at his career path. Dude’s done it all—film, TV, music, and then just casually dipped into politics, like that’s a normal Tuesday. Born and raised in Serbia, he sharpened his creative chops at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade (which, let’s be real, is pretty much the big league for Balkan creatives), then decided he needed a little more spice so he hit up the Academy for Security and Diplomacy. Not your typical double major, huh? He was deep in the Belgrade music scene, banging out tracks as a member and producer with Belgrade Union. But, you know how it goes—politics came knocking, and suddenly being in Beogradski Sindikat didn’t really mesh with his new ambitions. So, he called it quits with the band and jumped headfirst into the political arena. Before you could blink, he was leading the Third Serbia party and even went for the mayoral seat in Belgrade during the 2014 elections. That’s a power move if I’ve ever seen one. But the guy didn’t just drop his creative side. He’s got over a hundred film and TV projects under his belt, which is insane. Sound design, producing—he’s probably forgotten about more projects than most people even dream of doing. Whether he’s shaping a political debate or tweaking the soundtrack on a gritty drama, Aleksandar’s always right in the middle of it, making waves and probably leaving people wondering what he’ll do next.
