Alissa Sullivan Haggis

Alissa’s been deep in the wild world of movies since, well, forever. She’s the type who probably had a call sheet instead of a pacifier. These days, she’s making her mark as a screenwriter, mostly wrangling YA novels into screen gold—most recently turning “Ranger’s Apprentice” and “Shipbreaker” into scripts that actually do the books justice (no small feat, honestly). But her backstory? Kinda epic. She was running sets in Toronto before some kids even figured out their lockers—seriously, she got into the Director’s Guild of Canada at just 15. Then there’s the stint in the Yukon, calling the shots as a 2nd Unit Script Supervisor, and that time she worked wardrobe in Latvia right after the Berlin Wall fell—talk about being in the thick of it. Props, art department, producing segments for a dating show, dodging egos as a personal assistant… she’s done the rounds. Oh, and she’s jammed as a studio musician and wrangled little kids as an elementary school teacher too. Total wild card. She’s got double citizenship—American and Canadian—which probably comes in handy when your work bounces from one country to another. These days, she’s rooted in L.A., but don’t think she’s living the glam life 24/7. Most mornings, she’s up before the sun, catching cartoons with her two boys and probably plotting her next big adaptation while the rest of us are still snoozing.
