Amit Dey
Amit grew up in Calgary, the third son in a family that blended roots from India and Bangladesh. He didn’t just stay put—after childhood up north, he shot off to Carleton University for Film and Poli Sci, then bounced over to Vancouver Film School for the hands-on stuff. Next thing you know, he’s in Amsterdam at Universal Pictures, not exactly fetching coffee but actually becoming a mover in international film deals. He helped pick up all sorts of movies—think everything from gritty indies to big-name docs. London called, so he packed up again, diving deep into films like Cop Car, Mandy, Apollo 11, and Three Identical Strangers. Not exactly boring stuff.
Come 2018, MRC tapped him to kickstart their documentary division, which is pretty wild considering their track record (American Fiction, Knives Out, Ozark, Baby Driver—no big deal). Amit had the keys to greenlight, produce, and deliver docs with some of the best in the business, working with brands like Rolling Stone, Billboard, and even dipping into Dick Clark Productions’ pool of IP. Fast forward to 2024, and the guy basically orchestrates a blockbuster doc slate—Greatest Night in Pop sweeps awards, Sly Lives! opens Sundance, and Blink hits Disney+ and Nat Geo, all with heavyweight directors. He’s also behind The Contestant and the Milli Vanilli doc for Paramount+. Riding that wave, Amit sets up Adda Film, still chasing stories that matter to a global crowd. Now he’s in LA, juggling family life with the next big project.
