Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan, born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, started out as the son of poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. He’s got a brother, Ajitabh, too. Even after finishing school in Uttar Pradesh, his first crack at Bollywood wasn’t smooth. Directors thought he was too dark-skinned, but dude’s deep, booming voice caught their ears. That’s how he landed gigs as a narrator before finally getting a role in Saat Hindustani. Apparently, a little help from Indira Gandhi (yeah, the PM) didn’t hurt—she knew him through her son Rajiv. His real launchpad came with Zanjeer, alongside Jaya Bhaduri (who later became his wife).
Jaya and Amitabh had two kids, Shweta and Abhishek. Shweta steered clear of the limelight, while Abhishek dove right in. For a while, Amitabh tried politics, running for Congress in his hometown, but after the messy Bofors scandal, he bailed out. The late 90s were rough—flops, debts, and even a lawsuit from Canara Bank had him in a corner. But then, he bounced back hard with Kaun Banega Crorepati, and a string of hit films like Mohabbatein and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Rumors and drama followed his family, like the called-off engagement between Abhishek and Karisma Kapoor, but eventually Abhishek married Aishwarya Rai. Now, Amitabh’s not just a superstar but also a granddad, and honestly, the guy’s still everywhere—from movies to TV ads. No stopping him.
