Andrew Roux
Andrew Roux’s career is kind of wild if you think about it. The guy’s got his fingerprints on a pretty bizarre mix of stuff, from the twisted tech nightmares of Black Mirror to the gritty, salt-soaked pirate drama of Black Sails, and then—just to keep everyone guessing—a sweeping period romance in Redeeming Love. Not exactly the same vibe across the board, right? But that’s kind of the point. Roux doesn’t seem interested in being just one thing, which is honestly kind of refreshing in a world where everyone wants to fit a brand.
Black Mirror, first off, is basically a fever dream for anyone who loves technology and existential dread. If you’ve ever stayed up at night worrying your phone might be plotting against you, that’s the show. And Roux’s work there? It’s sharp, unnerving, and always finds a way to get under your skin.
Then skip over to Black Sails, and suddenly you’re knee-deep in high seas intrigue, backstabbing pirates, and more sand than you ever wanted in your shoes. The show’s all swagger and danger, and Roux helps amp up the tension so you’re never sure who’s about to betray who.
And then—boom—Redeeming Love. Complete curveball. It’s got heartbreak, hope, and enough emotional whiplash to make even the toughest person tear up a bit. Roux’s touch there is more delicate, showing he can handle big feelings just as well as big explosions. All in all, he’s kind of a chameleon—hard to predict, but always worth watching.
