Brandon Baker’s whole career is basically a wild ride through the indie film scene. He kicked things off in New York and New Orleans, right in the thick of it, picking up tips and tricks on real film sets like High Art and Fait Accompli. Dude wasn’t just hanging around; he was soaking up the business from both sides, creative and practical, which is rare. He even tried his hand at assistant sound engineering at Broadway Video (because why not?), but the real magic started after he landed in L.A. in 2000. That’s when he jumped into the sales and acquisitions game at Myriad Pictures, hustling hard, making connections with everyone from local distributors to foreign buyers, hitting up festivals, all that stuff. After a few years of that grind, he kept the momentum rolling at MonteCristo Entertainment, Boll AG/Event Film, and Film Mode Entertainment—bouncing between New York and L.A., basically living out of a suitcase and a phone. In 2005, he circled back to New York and started producing indie features himself, launching Mystic Pictures and representing films for distribution. He’s got legit credits, too—produced flicks like Fall Down Dead, Living & Dying, Hallow’s End, and Bachelor Party Massacre. He’s snagged distribution deals for titles that actually made festival premieres (King Cobra at Tribeca, Backcountry at TIFF, Jack Goes Home at SXSW, just to name a few). He’s done the whole shebang—associate producer, executive producer, co-producer, you name it. Right now, he’s executive producing Condor’s Nest, a WW2 action thriller, plus working on his own directorial debut, Confined. Over twenty years in, the guy’s been behind over 100 feature films—no small feat, honestly.
