Brian McGinn
Brian McGinn’s basically one of those creative types you keep hearing about in the LA scene. He isn’t just dabbling, either—he’s one of the brains behind Chef’s Table, that Netflix food doc series you’ve probably watched way too late at night, drooling over food you’ll never actually eat. He and David Gelb put that thing together, and critics pretty much lost their minds over how gorgeous it all looked. The show’s been running forever (well, for Netflix standards anyway), and McGinn’s been hands-on with every single season, picking chefs, running the show, and directing almost a dozen episodes himself. He’s not exactly short on trophies either—three Primetime Emmy nods and a handful of James Beard Awards to his name.
He didn’t stop at fine dining, though. In 2019, he co-created Street Food, which is kind of like Chef’s Table’s cool, scrappier cousin. That show went global, spotlighting street eats from Asia, Latin America, and the U.S., and honestly, it just makes you want to grab your passport and eat your way around the world.
But wait, there’s more. McGinn wrote, produced, and directed Amanda Knox, that wild doc about the infamous murder case in Italy. Premiered at TIFF, got Emmy love—no big deal. He’s also directed for HBO (yes, that Will Ferrell baseball special) and other Netflix docs like Trial By Media and Dirty Money. On top of all that, he’s a founding partner at Supper Club, producing everything from Disney+ docs (Wolfgang, Olivia Rodrigo’s road trip) to Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars projects. Oh, and he recently helped out on an episode of FX’s The Bear. This guy’s everywhere.
