Carlota Espinosa
Carlota Espinosa’s got this wild mix of hustle and heart—a news junkie turned Emmy-winning producer, with a knack for spotting stories that actually matter. She’s obsessed with WWII history (yeah, really), and when she stumbled on an article about the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, she didn’t just read it and move on. Nope. She tracked down the last living members, drove across the country in the middle of a pandemic, and dug into their lives. That’s dedication, honestly. Together with Keri Selig and Peter Guber, she spun their story into a project that’s now shining a light on these women—the only all-Black, all-female Army Corps unit sent overseas in WWII. It’s the kind of forgotten history that deserves a megaphone, and Carlota’s the one holding it.
Her career’s been all over the map (in a good way). She started off covering the OJ Simpson trials—real boots-on-the-ground journalism—then made the leap to fashion and entertainment, scoring three Emmys along the way. Not one to sit still, she co-founded HauteLook, one of the OG e-commerce giants, and rode that wave until Nordstrom snapped it up. Now, she’s mentoring women entrepreneurs like it’s second nature, sharing the battle scars and the wins. Raised in Calabasas with roots stretching from Chicago to Zacatecas, Mexico, she blends grit, smarts, and a major love of storytelling into everything she does.
