Dara Taylor
Dara Taylor's making serious waves in the film music game lately. She's the mind behind the soundtrack for The Tender Bar (yep, that’s the George Clooney one on Amazon), which really helped put her name on the map. Not to mention, she co-scored Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar—if you haven’t seen Kristen Wiig and Jamie Dornan get weird in that movie, you’re missing out. Her resume’s stacked: Echo Boomers (Michael Shannon brings the intensity, as usual), Netflix’s Bookmarks, Trial By Media, and the FX series Pride. Oh, and don’t forget Colewell—Dara scored that one too, and it actually landed her a Hollywood Music in Media Award back in 2019.
Lately, she’s been pretty busy. She worked on The Invitation for Sony Pictures, The Noel Diary for Netflix, and Universal’s Strays (that’s the one with talking dogs, wild ride). And she’s not just collecting film credits—she’s racking up honors left and right. Dara got a Hollywood Music in Media Award nod for Undetectable back in 2015, played at the Women in Film’s Women Composers in Media concert, and she’s been through the Sundance Institute Composers Lab. She’s also a BMI Conducting for Composers Fellow, snagged a spot in the Grammy NEXT program, and got into the Universal Composers Initiative.
When she’s not composing, Dara’s deep in the industry trenches—she’s a Governor for the Recording Academy’s LA Chapter and a member of just about every music-related organization you can think of: Television Academy, Society of Composers and Lyricists, Composers Diversity Collective, Alliance of Women Film Composers, Women in Media… yeah, she’s everywhere.
