Dayahang Rai
Dayahang popped into this world on April 13, 1980, in a tiny, tucked-away village in Bhojpur, way out in eastern Nepal. The guy grew up in a house that was always buzzing—seven people, two moms (thanks to his dad), and siblings everywhere. He’s got two younger sisters, plus an older brother named Bidur Lamichhane Rai, if you’re into specifics.
School wasn’t just a box to tick for him. He kicked things off at Pashupati Lower Secondary School in Khawa VDC, then wrapped up high school at Annapurna Secondary School, Dilpa, in ‘98. The real twist? His mom. She used to spin him the wildest fairy tales, and honestly, that’s where the drama bug probably bit him. Acting became his thing right from those early school days—like, he was never that kid just sitting quietly in the back row.
After high school, he hit up Bhojpur Multiple College, majoring in geography. Not exactly the spotlight, but hey, you gotta start somewhere. In 2001, he made the classic move to Kathmandu, aiming for bigger things and enrolled at Nepal Maanawiki Campus (back then, called RR Campus) to study journalism. But, yeah, academics? Not really his jam. Books couldn’t hold him, but the stage? That’s where he found his groove. He just couldn’t resist the pull of theatre and live shows, and that’s where Dayahang really started to shine—ditching the textbooks and going all-in on acting.
