Dylan Neal

Dylan Neal—yeah, that guy you’ve probably seen on TV more than once—was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and then grew up in Oakville (basically right outside Toronto, for those who don’t speak Canadian geography). He hit up Appleby College as a kid, where he caught the squash bug, got really good at it, and even played internationally for Canada. But after bouncing around North America on the amateur squash circuit, he figured out pro sports life wasn’t his thing. So, he ended up at Blakelock High School, dove into drama, and thanks to a push from his teacher, signed with a talent agent in Toronto. Turns out, acting suited him way better than squash. In '92, he packed up for Los Angeles, and, well, things just kind of took off. He stuck around L.A. until 2006, then moved up to Vancouver for ‘Blood Ties’, and eventually circled back to L.A. in 2011. The dude’s basically a TV staple. He’s been a regular on eight American shows—think ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’, ‘Pacific Palisades’, ‘Hyperion Bay’, and ‘Blood Ties’. You might also remember him from ‘Dawson’s Creek’ as Doug Witter, or as Aaron on ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’. In 2012, he scored the lead in ‘Cedar Cove’ opposite Andie MacDowell. From 2014 on, he started writing, producing, and starring in ‘The Gourmet Detective’ movies for Hallmark. When he’s not on set, he’s apparently geeking out over woodworking, making old-school furniture, or just hanging out with his family. Guy’s got range.

Did you know

    • Trivia:

Honestly, the guy’s basically a one-man wrecking crew when it comes to the Gourmet Mysteries set. First movie? He torched his own hair—yeah, literal flames. Didn’t even flinch, kept filming. Second round, he managed to slice his own face. Like, who does that? Third film, he’s trying to act all culinary and just goes and chops his finger. Blood everywhere, probably. Then, fifth movie rolls around and, wow, he takes a tumble and smacks his head on a metal post. Not just a bump, either—dude needed seven stitches. It’s almost impressive how accident-prone he is, like some weird badge of honor. The crew probably walks around with a first-aid kit just for him at this point. You almost start wondering if getting hurt is just part of his method acting or if he’s got some kind of curse following him around the set. Either way, he’s become infamous for it.
