Edward Sonnenblick
Edward Sonnenblick, an American dude who’s basically made Mumbai his second home, has been shaking things up in Indian cinema since 2008. The guy’s got some serious range—he’s an actor, voice artist, host, and even cracks jokes as a comedian. Most folks outside India probably caught his face in RRR (what a wild ride that was), but back home, he’s been the go-to Brit villain in all those period dramas. And yeah, he speaks Hindi so well it kinda throws people off.
Back in 2017, he was popping up everywhere—acting opposite Rajkummar Rao in Bose: Dead or Alive, sharing screen space with Kapil Sharma in Firangi, and even playing a washed-up cricketer in Amazon’s Inside Edge. He surprised everyone by hosting Indipedia in Hindi, which, honestly, is wild for a “gora” guy from California. Then in 2019, he was on the big screen with Manikarnika and Kesari, rubbing shoulders with Kangana Ranaut and Akshay Kumar.
He’s done stints on The Kapil Sharma Show, and once the world started recovering from the pandemic, he dove into RRR and shot for Maharaj, Tiger 3, and Jubilee. Fast forward to 2023—he’s wrapping up as Lord Mountbatten in Union, playing baddies in Tamil hits like Captain Miller and Scary House, and making a return to Telugu films with Devil.
Fun fact: Edward grew up in the Bay Area, taught himself Hindi out of sheer fascination with Bollywood, moved to Mumbai, and just started landing roles as evil British twins. Now he’s a fixture in Indian film and TV, living in Mumbai with his wife and son.
