Ellie O’Brien’s got roots in Glasgow, but Canada pulled her in as a kid, so she grew up bouncing between kilts and Tim Hortons. She set up shop in Toronto and just dove right into the acting world, no hesitation. Most folks know her as Grace from “My Life with the Walter Boys” on Netflix—she’s kind of impossible to forget in that role. But she’s not just a one-hit wonder. Peek into “Designated Survivor,” “Grand Army,” or even “Workin’ Moms,” and you’ll spot her holding her own like it’s no big deal. Now, Ellie isn’t just about memorizing lines and hitting her mark. She took the whole film thing seriously, studying film and TV at Sheridan College, where she nerded out over screenwriting. In her last year, she wrote and directed a student film called “The Truth about Church Club.” Turns out, people loved it. It bagged awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Directing at the Sheridan Screen Arts Awards. Not too shabby for a student project—and it’s still making the rounds at festivals. These days, Ellie’s all in on using her craft to lift up women and kids, putting her energy into stories that actually mean something. She’s got this knack for blending genres and making stuff that feels fresh, thanks to her background in acting and writing. And she’s always learning, always pushing, because why settle? Keep an eye out—she’s starring in the upcoming Black Fawn Films flick “It Feeds” with Ashley Greene, and something tells me she’s just warming up.
