Geetika Vidya Ohlyan
Geetika Vidya Ohlyan? Oh, she's not your run-of-the-mill actress, that's for sure. Born in some small city in Haryana (bet most people can't even find it on the map), she basically grew up breathing theatre—thanks to her dad, who was all about that stage life. Geetika's real journey started at Delhi University, KM College, where she was supposed to be studying English lit but got swept up in college theatre with The Players, mentored by Keval Arora. He basically dragged her into what she calls “Drama in Life,” and, man, did she take to it. She acted, directed, wrote scripts—didn’t matter if it was for the street or the stage, she was everywhere.
And then, get this: she goes on to do over 300 shows for Zangoora, which, fun fact, is India's first Bollywood musical. That’s not even a flex, that's a marathon. Oh, and if you’ve heard any Google or Spicejet ads and thought, “Hey, that voice sounds cool,” yeah, could’ve been her.
But the real game-changer was her debut movie, 'Soni'. This film? It’s not just another indie flick lost on Netflix. It actually snagged Best Film on Gender Equality at MAMI Mumbai Film Fest 2018, rocked a premiere at Venice (fancy!), won Best Film at Pingyao in China, then dropped on Netflix in 2019. No big deal, right?
She’s not slowing down either—next up she’s rolling into Shaad Ali’s web series ‘Pavan & Pooja’. Honestly, Geetika’s just getting started, and it’s wild watching her carve out this space for herself.
