Inanna Sarkis, Canadian through and through, but with some serious Bulgarian and Assyrian roots—her family made the move to Canada, grinding hard just to stay afloat. Growing up, English wasn’t even in the picture; it was all Bulgarian and Assyrian at home, so she didn’t pick up English until she hit school. She caught the acting bug in high school, jumping on stage in “The Beverly Hillbillies” (which, let’s be honest, is kind of iconic). Still, she went the “good kid” route for a while, grabbing a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Ryerson, mostly to keep her parents happy. Meanwhile, she hustled at bars, stacking up cash until she could finally bolt for California and chase those acting dreams for real. Landing in California wasn’t all palm trees and sunshine either. She lived above a gym, hit up acting studios, and kept bartending to pay the bills. But she didn’t just wait around—she started cranking out comedy sketches and short films online, doing it all: writing, directing, starring. Soon enough, she became a digital star and started landing roles in actual TV and movies. She wrapped filming on Nick Cassavetes’ “Marked Men,” took a lead in the horror flick “Séance,” and played Molly in the hit “After” movie series. On TV, you might’ve caught her in Netflix’s “Brews Brothers” or snagging a lead in Amazon’s “College” pilot. She even dropped her own podcast “Zaya,” putting a bold Middle Eastern woman front and center—it shot to #1 on Apple’s Fiction Podcast list. Oh, and she’s now a global ambassador for International Medical Corps, raising money and awareness for Syrian refugees. Not just a triple threat—she’s the whole package.
