James Grandison
James kicked things off in Perth, messing around with TV commercials and a short film called The Paddock that actually got a bit of buzz. Then he packed his bags for London—yeah, classic move—where he landed at this film design joint called Franki&Jonny. Not long after, he snagged some awards with a documentary, My Uncle Bluey. Dude was everywhere for a while. He even took on production management for the feature Wasted on the Young before shifting gears and heading to Melbourne.
In Melbourne, James turned into the go-to guy. Everyone wanted him on their project, and honestly, it makes sense. He line-produced and co-produced the six-part series Picnic at Hanging Rock, which, let’s be real, is no small feat. His name started popping up in the credits for all sorts of stuff—Underground, Nowhere Boys, Glitch, The King’s Daughter, Hunters. The guy just couldn’t miss.
Then, in 2019, James circled back to Perth. Full circle, right? Now he’s the guy running the West Australian office for Arenamedia, still producing, still in the thick of it. He’s basically the glue for any project he touches, juggling a million things without breaking a sweat. Not bad for someone who started off wrangling TVCs in Perth.
