Jamie Campbell Bower’s basically cornered the market on fantasy roles, hasn’t he? Dude’s been everywhere. He slid right into the Twilight universe as Caius—yeah, the creepy Volturi dude with that icy glare—showing up in three movies and somehow making every scene he’s in just a bit more intense. Then he pops up as young Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and later in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, really bringing out that whole mysterious, dangerous vibe. Not to mention, he’s Jace in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, so if you were into YA supernatural stuff at all, you definitely bumped into his face. Oh, and just when you thought he’d peaked, Stranger Things ropes him in for a wild ride starting in season four. Talk about a guy who just can’t stay out of magical trouble—if there’s a wand or a monster, Jamie’s probably lurking nearby.

Man, acting for movies is just a whole different beast from theater. On stage, you can go wild—big gestures, loud voice, just full-on take up space. I’m all about that, honestly. It’s easy to let loose up there, no holding back. But film? That’s a tricky one. You’ve gotta pull everything in, make it all subtle and internal, like you’re letting the camera in on your secrets. Nothing is loud, everything’s under the surface. It’s actually kind of nerve-wracking, way more than people think. And, yeah, sometimes it makes me want to scream into a pillow—like, can I just get another gig already so I don’t lose my mind? Theater’s comfy, almost too comfy. Movies push you, force you to be a different kind of vulnerable. It’s wild how much more personal it feels, even though you’re barely moving.
