Jan Roldanus
Jan’s one of those people who’s done pretty much everything in film—like, if you threw a dart at a map of the industry, you’d hit something he’s worked on. He kicked off as a script reader, which sounds low-key, but landed him smack in the middle of London’s agent shark tank at ICM. Next stop? Running the show at HandMade Films development. Nine feature films in five years—yeah, that’s not a typo. He was right there in the trenches with Guy Ritchie on his first feature… until the company’s parent went under and Lock, Stock almost got canned in post. Wild times.
He didn’t quit. Jan jumped to TalkBack with Disney in the mix—then Freemantle swooped in, but he just kept rolling, producing BAFTA-nominated shorts and hustling as an indie on features. Then came Rio. With his Brazilian wife and kids, Jan set up shop in Brazil, wrangling high-end commercial shoots for international heavyweights and getting his crew on projects like the BAFTA-winning Senna, The South Bank Show, and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Rob Peace. Not your average expat adventure.
Back in the UK, Jan scored the Head of Production gig at Stolen Picture—Sony, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost’s playground. He produced Truth Seekers (Amazon), Out of Her Mind (BBC2), and Black Cab (Shudder). Oh, and he owns a production service business in Brazil, still running things between London and Rio. Basically, if there’s a passport stamp for production chaos, he’s got it.
