Jessica Staples
Jessica Staples grew up in Denver, Colorado, and honestly, her life’s been anything but boring. At just 18, she jumped straight into the Navy—no hesitation—ending up on the USS O’Kane (yeah, that’s the one docked at Pearl Harbor). She worked as a Cryptological Technician, which pretty much means her job was equal parts mystery and stress, decoding stuff most people couldn’t even pronounce. By the time 2009 rolled around, she’d made E5, but decided it was time to chase something new.
She swapped her uniform for textbooks and spent a couple years at Hawaii Pacific University, snagging a degree in Communication. Sun, surf, and college—could’ve been worse, right? In 2013, Jessica ditched the islands for the red rocks of Southern Utah. Acting wasn’t even on her radar until 2017, when she stumbled onto a local commercial set just trying to make a quick buck as an extra. Turns out, she loved it—go figure.
Since then, Jessica’s been all over the indie film scene in Utah and nearby states, taking on everything from student projects to legit productions. She’s not just in front of the camera, either—she’s hustling behind the scenes as a production assistant. Need someone in the production office? She’s there. Locations? She’s got you. Just a general set PA? She’s done that, too. Basically, Jessica’s the type who jumps in headfirst and figures it out as she goes—and, honestly, it seems to be working out just fine.
