Joel Soisson
Joel Soisson’s career, honestly, is kind of a wild ride through the trenches of Hollywood. The guy jumped from fine art and animation at Pratt to film studies at USC, then dusted off his skills at AFI for cinematography—sounds exhausting, but hey, it worked. He didn’t waste time either; he dove into the industry as a screenwriter and storyboard artist, and before you know it, he’s got over two dozen features under his belt. Ever heard of Hollow Man II? Yeah, blame him. Dracula 2000? That’s his, too. And he even dipped his toes into the “Highlander” universe, which, let’s be real, is a flex.
Directing? Oh, he’s done that too—eight features, including The Prophecy: Uprising and this oddball called Buffalo Rider. Not all of them are household names, but they’re out there, lurking in the weird corners of streaming platforms. And if you remember that reality TV phase where everyone wanted to see behind the curtain, Soisson even got roped into Project Greenlight. That show followed him and a bunch of other filmmakers as they wrangled the horror comedy Feast from script to screen. Messy, chaotic, probably a blast.
Producing credits? Let’s just say he’s got range. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (yep, that one), The Prophecy, Infinity, and even the Trekkies documentary. His credits run all over the place genre-wise, which is honestly pretty cool. Outside of work, he splits his time between LA and Bainbridge Island with his wife Claudia Templeton—living the bi-coastal life, soaking up both the glitz and the chill.
