Jonathan Bross
Jonathan Bross has his fingerprints all over some pretty wild projects lately—yeah, that’s him behind The Crow (2024), Honest Thief (2020), and Fast Charlie (2023). The Crow, for starters, is basically a punch in the gut (in a good way). You get this moody, gothic swirl where vengeance is almost poetic—the main character’s basically yanked outta the grave by sheer force of rage, prowling the city at night, tracking down the scumbags who wrecked his whole world. If you’re into dark, gritty revenge stories, this one’s like candy. The visuals? Slick. Soundtrack? Hits you right in the nostalgia. But it’s got its own style, not just rehashing the old school vibe.
Then there’s Honest Thief—totally different beast. Liam Neeson does his usual “I’m too old for this but still totally badass” routine. He plays a guy who’s robbed banks for years, but then, plot twist, falls for someone and decides he wants out. Problem is, the Feds are way more crooked than anybody expects. So you’ve got double-crosses, explosions, a little romance, and Neeson’s gravelly voice threatening people (classic). It’s a popcorn flick, but it’s got more heart than you’d think.
Fast Charlie? Now that’s a ride. Think hitman with a code, old-school mobsters, and a plot that zigzags all over the place. It’s brutal, but there’s a weird charm to it—dark humor, sharp dialogue, and some genuinely clever twists. Bross brings this energy that makes even the most unlikable characters weirdly fun to watch. If you’re into stylish crime thrillers with a bit of a wink, you’ll probably dig all three.
