Juan Bofill

Juan C. Bofill’s not your run-of-the-mill Stunts & FX coordinator—this guy’s got more stripes than a zebra. For starters, he’s been mastering Goju Ryu Karate for over forty years (yeah, forty-four, if you’re counting), and he’s a certified 7th degree black belt. Dude’s literally competed all over the planet and, no big deal, just picked up three world martial arts championships along the way. But he didn’t stop there. He’s also trained in Aikido, Kobudo (think: hardcore weapons), Iaido (swords, baby), plus Jiu Jitsu, and tacked on a 4th degree black belt in Judo. Basically, if it’s got “martial” in it, he’s probably mastered it. Back in the early ‘90s, Juan kicked off his stunt business—while running around as a police commander for 24 years. Multitasking much? During that time, he wracked up a master’s in criminal justice, spent 16 years in SWAT (talk about adrenaline junkie), and snagged a laundry list of instructor certs: defensive tactics, tactical driving, firearms, explosives, sniper, you name it. After clocking out from police life, he floored it straight into TV and film. His fingerprints are all over Miami Vice, CSI Miami, Burn Notice, Bad Boys, Iron Man—you get the idea. Eventually, his creative itch pulled him behind the camera, where he’s been writing, producing, and directing like he was born for it. Straight up, Juan’s the real deal.
