Julian McMahon
Julian McMahon, born in Sydney, landed right in the spotlight from the get-go—his dad was none other than Sir Billy McMahon, a political heavyweight who clocked more time as a government minister than anyone else before becoming prime minister. Pretty wild family dinner stories, you’d imagine. Julian’s mom, Lady Sonia, stuck around until 2010, passing away just after the anniversary of her husband’s death, with Julian and his sisters right by her side.
He’s got some Irish and English in his blood, but honestly, academia wasn’t really his thing. He tried out university life at Wollongong, but, let’s just say, the campus bar had more appeal than lectures. One year and out—he ditched the books for modeling gigs. Not a shabby trade-up, considering he ended up working in LA, Paris, Milan… basically all the fashion capitals. Back home, a jeans commercial blew up his profile, and suddenly he was starring in The Power, the Passion, a soap with full-on Dynasty energy. That led to Home and Away, where he scooped up a best actor award and even jumped on stage for a musical version in the UK.
Hollywood came calling soon after. Julian grabbed a role on Another World, then moved on to theater in LA, dabbling in indie films before landing a big part as Agent John Grant on Profiler for four seasons. When he’s not acting, you’ll catch him surfing, biking, maybe whipping something up in the kitchen, or chilling with a stack of classic books and a ball game on the TV. Guy’s got range, on and off screen.
