Justin Bursch
Justin Bursch has this knack for getting involved with movies that are, honestly, all over the place in the best way. Take "I Feel Pretty" from 2018—Amy Schumer wakes up after a freak accident and suddenly thinks she’s a supermodel, even though, well, nothing physically changed. It’s not just a comedy, it’s this wild ride through self-confidence and insecurity that’s so relatable it kind of stings. The jokes land, but there’s a real message in there, buried under the slapstick and awkward moments.
Then you’ve got "Crawl" (2019), which is an entirely different beast—literally. Trapped in a flooding Florida house during a hurricane, a woman and her dad have to outsmart a bunch of hungry alligators. The tension is insane, and it never really lets up. You find yourself holding your breath, like, half the time. It’s sweaty-palms, edge-of-your-seat stuff, but somehow still fun? The pacing just doesn’t quit.
And then "Colossal" (2016) comes out of nowhere with this bonkers premise—Anne Hathaway’s character discovers she’s connected to a giant monster tearing up Seoul. It’s absurd, but there’s this weird, dark humor to it, and it sneaks in some commentary about toxic relationships and personal responsibility. You come for the monster mayhem and end up getting hit with actual feelings.
Bursch’s filmography is anything but boring—genre-hopping, risk-taking, and always keeping you on your toes.
