Kylie Jefferson
Kylie Jefferson, straight out of Los Angeles, has been making waves in the dance world since, well, basically kindergarten. She started ballet at just four years old, and by six, she’d already snuck her way into the Debbie Allen Dance Academy’s academy level—yeah, the one in Culver City that’s a legit big deal. Debbie Allen herself, who’s basically dance royalty—think choreographer, actress, producer, director, you name it—took Kylie under her wing. That mentorship? It shot Kylie onto stages like the Kennedy Center in D.C. and even all the way to Oman. Not your average after-school activity, right?
Kylie didn’t just stick to the stage. She started popping up in commercials and movies as a kid, basically living the LA dream. Summers? She’d split them between DADA and the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C., soaking up all the ballet training she could get. By 2016, she’d snagged her BFA in contemporary dance from Boston Conservatory, which is no joke.
Her first crack at choreography? She landed a gig for ScHoolboy Q’s “CHopstix” with Travis Scott, and it got her nominated for a Universal Dance Award. Since then, she’s been everywhere—mentoring up-and-coming dancers, performing live, and strutting her stuff on huge stages like the Grammys, the NAACP Image Awards, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
But maybe the biggest twist? In 2019, Kylie jumped into the acting world, starring as Neveah in “Tiny Pretty Things,” a ballet drama series adapted from the hit book. Netflix picked it up for a 2020 release, and honestly, she’s just getting started.
