Lawrence Minicone

Lawrence Minicone, yeah, he’s kind of a behind-the-scenes heavyweight in the world of finance and film money. He co-founded RB Venture Partners, which is basically this investment shop that’s always sniffing out deals in the lower middle-market. Not your average Wall Street skyscraper stuff. They’re sort of like chameleons too—doesn’t matter what the asset class is or how the capital stack looks, they’re in if it makes sense. Oh, and they’ve got a whole film financing division, so if you ever wondered where that indie movie got its cash, well, maybe these guys had something to do with it. Lawrence also runs the show over at Mereo Advisors, wearing both the Managing Partner and CIO hats. Mereo’s not your grandpa’s investment firm—it’s all about weird, innovative ways to make money in the insurance and reinsurance world. Probably not the most glamorous line of work, but hey, someone’s got to crunch those numbers. Before all this, he was the Head of Research at Tekmerion Capital Partners, which is a mouthful, but basically a hedge fund that bets big on global trends using a lot of math and algorithms. And if that wasn’t enough, he did his time at Bridgewater Associates, the giant of hedge funds, where you’d probably get lost in a sea of spreadsheets if you blinked. Oh, and he’s got the academic chops too—Haverford College and the London School of Economics. Not bad, right?
