Luis Alberti
Luis Alberti, born in Mexico City back in '81, is one of those actors who seems to just pop up everywhere once you start looking. He got his chops at La Casa Del Teatro, which isn’t your run-of-the-mill acting school—it’s one of those places where you actually get your hands dirty, learning from theater and film legends like David Hevia and Carolina Politi (if you know, you know). He kicked off his career by co-founding the experimental theater group Vaca 35, which, honestly, is about as indie as it gets. Seven years of experimental theater? That’s not for the faint of heart.
These days, you’ll catch him with Teatro Lúcido, acting in “BESTIARIO,” a play inspired by Julio Cortázar and directed by Moira Santoro. But if you’re more of a TV junkie, you probably recognize him from “Rosario Tijeras” or as Lupe Esparza in the TNT biopic “Bronco, un éxito Indomable.” His resume reads like a tour of Mexican TV: “Crónica de castas,” “Enemigo Intimo 2,” “S.W.A.T.,” “El Candidato,” and more—he’s worked with some serious heavy-hitters like Damián Alcázar and Dolores Heredia.
On the film front, Alberti’s got range. Early on, “Carmín Tropical” snagged him a nomination for the Ariel Award and the CANACINE Luminus. He even showed up in Peter Greenaway’s “Eisenstein in Guanajuato” at the Berlin Film Fest. He finally took home the Ariel for Best Actor in 2020 for “Workforce,” after also winning at Morelia’s fest. Lately, he’s leading “La suerte de Juan,” and popping up in films like “I Carry You With Me,” “The Golden Dream,” and “Fireflies.” Honestly, dude’s everywhere.
