Maja Hamplova

Maja Hamplova, born in 1990, is kinda one of those people in the Czech film scene who’s everywhere and nowhere at the same time (you know the type). She studied at Charles University in Prague, digging deep into the Theory of Cultures and Arts, which honestly just sounds like a fancy way to say she understands people and why we’re all so weird. These days, she’s a casting director, hustling out of Prague, handpicking faces for some seriously cool projects. You’ve probably seen her work without realizing it—she’s had a hand in films like The Noonday Witch, that haunting flick Ice Mother, HBO’s In Treatment (that’s the Czech version, not the American one), and even the historical drama Anthropoid, which got a bunch of international attention. She doesn’t just stick to movies, either. Commercials? She’s done ‘em. Big names too—O2, BMW, SKODA, T-Mobile, and, honestly, the list keeps going. If you’ve watched Czech TV, you’ve probably seen at least one ad she’s worked on. But, here’s where it gets really interesting: Maja isn’t just about casting. She goes behind the camera too.
