Marcia Bennett
Marcia’s story kicks off in Evansville, Indiana—think small-town vibes right on the Ohio River. She’s the daughter of Margaret and Harold Bennett, and honestly, she was basically born to be on stage. Acting since she was nine? Yeah, not messing around. She snagged her BA in Drama from the University of Evansville, which, let’s be real, is about as classic as it gets for a theatre kid. But she wasn’t finished yet—she kept the momentum rolling with a Masters in Theatre from the University of Missouri over in Columbia.
Now, getting your Equity card is a big deal in the acting world, and Marcia landed hers at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. That’s not just some random community theater—that’s historic. After that, she set her sights on the Big Apple and started working with Jenny Egan. If you know anything about NYC theatre, you know Egan’s name carries some weight, especially with Four Winds Theatre.
But Marcia wasn’t done moving. In the mid-70s, she packed up and headed north to Toronto, Ontario. That’s where she’s been hanging her hat (as of 2014, anyway), rocking that dual citizenship lifestyle. She’s still involved in the arts, still making her mark. Oh, and she’s a mom, too—her son’s name is Daniel A. Schwartz. So yeah, she’s basically been living and breathing theatre her whole life, with a pretty wild journey across borders and stages.
