Mark Labella
Mark Labella isn’t your average Hollywood story. Born in Cebu, raised in San Diego, he’s the kind of guy who can stitch up a wound and punch up a script—sometimes on the same day. Navy vet, doctor, screenwriter, actor—he’s racked up more job titles than most people have house plants. His screenwriting journey kicked off at the WGA Veterans program, and he’s been on a roll ever since, snagging awards for shows like “MisDiagnosed”—a medical comedy that probably hits a little too close to home for him. He’s dabbled in everything from murder-mystery thrillers (“Catholic School”) to good old-fashioned comedy (“Soul & Spice”).
Don’t even get started on his acting credits. He’s popped up alongside Gerard Butler in “The Plane,” and made guest appearances on TV hits like “NCIS:LA,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Chicago Fire,” and even Disney’s “Doogie Kamealoha.” Mark’s stories come loaded with heart and a healthy dose of chaos, thanks in part to his wild Filipina mom—she once showed up at his Navy barracks because he ghosted her for two days. The guy’s literally delivered babies on city streets during earthquakes and still managed to make his mom anxious by swapping medicine for Hollywood dreams. Every story he tells, you feel the grit, the love, and his drive to give back to the woman who hustled gum and comics in Cebu so he could chase dreams in America.
