Mohammed Alhamoud
Mohammed Alhamoud’s journey through Saudi cinema is kinda wild, honestly. Back in 2008, he kicked things off by co-founding the Talashi Film Collective in Riyadh—way before Saudi film started making international noise. After that, he took off to San Francisco to snag an MFA in Film Directing from the Academy of Art University, which, let’s be real, isn’t exactly a small feat. You can see his fingerprints all over a bunch of short films, but Ertidad (2019) is the one that really stands out—it actually landed in the International Competition at Clermont-Ferrand, which is a pretty big deal if you’re into film festivals.
After getting his feet wet, Alhamoud went all-in and started his own production house, Last Scene Films, right in Riyadh. That studio ended up being the birthplace of Last Visit (2019), a film that nabbed the Jury Award at the Marrakech International Film Festival. Not bad, right? And that’s not the only win; he’s pumped out a handful of other shorts that picked up awards along the way. Fast-forward to August 2021, things got even more interesting when Telfaz11—yeah, the creative media powerhouse—swooped in and acquired Last Scene Films. That move landed Alhamoud the gig as Head of Development at Telfaz11 Studios.
Since then, he’s been all over the place, producing and executive producing projects like Saify (2024) and Mandoob (2023), which even premiered at TIFF. Right now, Alhamoud’s focus is locked on developing genre-driven projects for Telfaz11, and honestly, he’s out here redefining what Saudi cinema can look like. The guy’s not just riding the wave—he’s making it.
